Summer Foods to Avoid and Enjoy While Eating with Braces

It may feel like summer almost all year long in Florida, but nothing beats knowing classic summer food is officially back in season! Being able to have an accurate bite to enjoy the food you love is a big perk of orthodontic treatment, but wearing braces has some do’s and don’ts when it comes to ensuring your brackets don’t become damaged.

Foods to Avoid

Beef jerky
Ribs and any meat that is off the bone (take it off the bone, then eat in small pieces)
Corn on the cob
Peanuts
Popcorn
Soda
Sweet Iced Tea
Sticky or chewy candies and snacks
Cakes and cookies

Enjoy This Food

Yogurt
Oatmeal
Fresh fruit (try blending into a smoothie!)
Ice cream
Jell-O
Steamed or grilled veggies
Mac and cheese
Mashed and baked potatoes
Baked beans
Coleslaw

If avoiding certain foods doesn’t sound like a task you’d like to take on, Invisalign may be the perfect solution for you. With Invisalign treatment, you can eat any foods you’d like. Just be sure to remove the trays when sitting down to eat, brush, and floss after each meal before putting them back in!
